Linkage with Punjab Minimal linkage. Over years lost touch because of small presence and assimilation. Extensive linkage because migration is recent and helped through modern communications using telephone, internet, You tube, Skype etc. Well linked. Considerable efforts being made in maintaining affinity with religion & culture for second, third & fourth generations.
Gurdwaras Very few and that too established rather late - only in 1990s. Large number of Gurdwaras - well attended. Important gathering point, essential for bonding by the new immigrants. 'Gurpurb' & other celebrations including 'Nagar keertans' organised. Several and well established. Exemplary following of Sikhi in Burma including women granthis. In Malaysia, Singapore & Thailand, Sikhs are well organised.
Sikh Identity and Turbans Turbans almost non-existent. Setting up of Gurdwaras is helping linkage with Sikhi. Turban is an issue for Identity cards. Sikh identity followers are in minority.
